New Mexico is one of America`s iconic places. More than 23 million of last year`s visitors to the state will agree to this fact. The landscape is like no other in America. It is quite diverse and varies from the mountains of to the undulating expanse of the desert. The Land of Enchantment, as it has come to be called, is indeed a land of contrasts. Despite being one of the largest states in terms of size, New Mexico is also one of the least populated areas. Its culture is rich and diverse and has been preserved in a number of historical sites and museums, some dating to the Aztec period. New Mexico has a close relation to art; it is home to Georgia O’Keeffe whose work is immortalized in the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. The Spanish influence in the state is also quite vivid. In fact, the state has the highest number of Hispanic people in America. This influence is also evident in the architecture and facade of towns like Santa Fe. New Mexico`s capital is Albuquerque.
New Mexico recently changed their tobacco laws to include e-cigarettes and vaping products. The possession of e-cigarettes and vaping products, as well as their sale and use, is prohibited on school premises. This is according to a December 2015 law that also prohibits the sale of the same on school events. However, this is the only state-wide vaping law. Local authorities are free to make their own vaping laws. Santa Fe has implemented a complete ban on indoor vaping. This ban extends to bars and restaurants. The locality of Carlsbad`s ban has also implemented a partial ban that does not cover bars and restaurants. Sale of vaping products is permitted only for adults of over eighteen. As of March 2017, the State Senate voted to add e-cigarettes to the regulations that apply to tobacco in public.
A visit to the Land of Enchantment is certainly worth the effort. The experience is quite rewarding and unforgettable.
